when you shock flowers with 80,000 volts

This is what it looks like when you shock flowers with 80,000 volts. Photographer Robert Bulteman places the flowers on sheet metal floating in liquid silicone and hits the metal with an electric pulse. This causes electrons to jump through the silicone and the flowers, causing the gas surrounding the flowers to be ionised, leaving behind an otherworldly glow. Bulteman then hand-paints this for the final result.
